Free range eggs
We keep a small flock of pasture-raised chickens on our smallholding. They’re free to come and go as they please – within the safety of an electric fence to protect against predators. The chickens are housed in the egg mobile – a mobile chicken house that is moved every few days so the birds are always on fresh pasture.

We only sell eggs from our own flock. Each egg is marked with the date it was laid. We sell our eggs packed in half dozen egg boxes.
Fresh eggs have a completely natural protective coating known as the cuticle or ‘bloom’. This seals pores in the shell blocking bacteria and moisture. It’s why, in the UK, eggs can safely be stored and sold at room temperature without spoiling.
Note that official UK government advice is to refrigerate eggs after purchase, and consume them before a best-before date of 28 days after the laying date.
